Susan and Fred - November 22 2008

4:30 am - November 22 2008 - It was extremely cold mind you but I was up and ready to go! Dao did their beautiful hair and I had the honour to do their makeup. Everyone one 6 Bridal party had to be ready hair and makeup before 9:00 am. How I love my work. I had the honour to do this Wedding Party. This is probably the most loudest and impulsive wedding I have done. The ladies, the Bridal party was organized, but the gentleman decided to wing everything. They did do a very traditional Chinese wedding, so for the ones who are not familiar with it, I`m sure you will have fun reading the following =)
Getting ready...
Almost ready...

Complete!

Now it's time for Make-Up

Last finishing touches.

Meet the Bridal Party.

Below is Fred ( Groom ) with his Groomsmen waiting outside in the cold because they arrived 15 minutes early and the Bridal Party refuses them to enter in early! Poor Guys. What happens at most Chinese weddings is that the Bridal Party normally gives the Groomsmen a hard time to get to the Bride. In order to get the Groom to see his Bride, they have to do some simple or hard tasks. In this case, this Bridal Party went quite extreme and made Fred really
earn it!

One of the task was passing the seaweed paper, mouth to mouth to the other 4 Groomsmen. Let`s just say the sheet gets shorter as it goes down the line and eyewitness say one couple did receive a kiss.

Second task was to..... I`m still gagging from this - is having the Groomsmen brush their teeth with WASABI. I`ve been told that this is a very popular task a lot of weddings play - I can see why! This gentleman is not enjoying this at all, out of the 5 of them the ladies let just 2 groomsmen do this task. How nice. This is basically to show what the Groom would do for his Bride.

Maybe its a candid moment, or is this Groomsmen enjoying this...

This is probably one of their more simpler task - a math question.

The Groomsmen are forced to wear diapers.

and sit on the Grooms lap and be fed baby food... strawberry jam mixed with sour cream...
This was to show that the Groom was prepare for parenthood.

These ladies are still torturing this group and insisted that these men have their legs waxed to understand what women do in general to maintain our looks. Each young men now has a hairless patch´or strip on their legs.

This task was intentionally for the Groom, but he told them that he was allergic to everything they offered to him. Lucky for him, one of his Groomsmen stepped to the plate and took this task on his behalf. This brave Groomsmen had to - get ready for this - to eat something hot (a pepper), bitter (ginger), sour and sweet (maple syrup) to prove he was willing to endure the hot, bitter, sour and sweet times of their marriage.

A very lucky number is 999, here we witness the Bridal Party requesting $999.99 which they convinced them that they do not have. After a while the Bridal Party excepted $99.00

They just paid themselves to walk up the stairs - as they were getting closer they had to serenade to her. They all tried to harmonized to `I`ll make love to you `by Boyz II Men.

And finally, the Bride is ready and missed everything that was going on outside of her room.
Susan - the Bride - decided to have soft romantic curls pinned to one side with slight volume on top. She uses a flat rhinestone accessory on one side and pinned small accessories throughout her hair. Her make-up was very natural with nude lips and a soft smokey with dark grey and purple.

After he picks her up, they go downstairs and have a traditional tea ceremony on the Bridal side and then drives to the Grooms house and have another Tea Ceremony for the Grooms side.

Game Time - Questionnaire.

I put her hair up and in a rhinestone headband to accomandate her wardrobe change. Darken her Smokey eye to a more dramatic eye, this time using black and gray. I touched her and her entire Bridal Party and changed the Bridal Party into a more evening look than the natural look they had in the morning.

Makeup Forever Cosmetics

So here it is, the reveal of my all time favourite product line. My partner better know as May Nguyen, the make up junkie is addicted to trying EVERYTHING! I've seen MUF in Sephora all the time and tired it here and there but after I tried their Aqua Eyes Liner I was instantly hooked. I love the versatility of the packaging and the size of the eye shadows. Not to mention the high pigment and bright colour pallets.

Many women have been searching for years for a pencil eye line that will not smudge. If you have watery eyes like me, i bet its impossible for you to apply black pencil and not have it on the bottom of your eyes by the end of the day.

Well ladies look no more, Aqua Eyes Water Proof Eyeliner is your solution. Its amazingly soft on your eyes with high pigment that can be used to line your inner or outer eye area. Exits in 20 Colours.
High Definition Foundation

With technology enhancing rapidly this HD foundation was created to meet the needs of television and high mega pixel cameras. This oil free formula is designed to not only give you a flawless finish, but also to moisturize the skin as well.

If I am not air brushing my foundation on, HD is what I use personally on a daily basis. It applies on soo smoothly I am able to wear it all day. It's great for mature skin because it is matted with the HD translucent powder and the bottle is air proof which I love for hygienic reasons.

I will forever be a MAKE UP FOREVER artist until I retire my blending brush!

Leni-Jayne & Mikes Wedding Sept 27,2008

Leni-Jayne's wedding will be one event that will remain in my heart for a long time. She was such a sweet kind hearted bride that was such a treat to work for. I met her back in April of 2008 for her first trial. I had the opportunity to provide her with a skin consultation to help her get her skin in perfect shape for her day. We had about 5 months to achieve results and we did it in perfect timing. I had put her on the Gerard skin care line for eczema skin and she noticed results in just a week. With her determination, trust in me and a promise that she would keep up with her daily regimen, her skin was absolutely glowing.

For Leni's lips I used a nearly nude lipstick with a touch of gloss to give her a natural look.

Leni wanted a very soft smokey eye look with a touch of shine. This look was perfect for her especially because of her eye shape.

Early Morning start.

The beautiful bridal party.

Sophy & Williams Wedding Aug 30/08

I have known Sophy and Will for decades. Sophy and I grew up together and ever since we were in diapers we have been close friends. She is like a sister to me and I had the privilege to be apart of their special day.
With all the preparation the both of them done. It was finally the big day. It was an early morning for all of us. May and Dao arrived before sunset (our usual wake up call) and immediately started beautifying us.
Sophy, having such a laid back personality she wanted to go for a casual look. She usually doesn't wear a lot of make up and no foundation so the air brush application was perfect for her. She decided to have her hair half up because she was wearing a tiara.

It being a traditional Chinese wedding. The groom arrives in the morning to pick up the Bride. At the door its the bridal parties job to make it difficult for the groom to enter the house. The groom and his men offer bribes such as money to try to get through.

We also had an early morning Tea Ceremony. Its a serving of tea from the bride and groom to family members, and in return they present the bride and groom with a gift of jewelry or a red pocket. This is a very special moment for the families because it is considered the acceptance of their love and the unity of both families.

Gaia and Deon Parsons - August 16, 2008

Anytime a client hires me or anyone of us at Muah, we take it as a compliment that someone has trusted us to cater their beauty services. Especially for wedding, this is a huge compliment as the Brides make-up and hair is extremely important and is probably one of their most important dates to remember.

I had the privileged to do an amazing bridal party. Everyone was so sweet and kind . The entire bridal party was very accommodating to our requests to ensure that everything went smoothly.

Gaia - the bride look was actually inspired by Jessica's Simpsons wedding with her loose curls and her hair pinned on both side with some very cute barrettes. She did want a more dramatic make-up than Jessica but overall Gaia looked stunning on her!

She set the trial with me many months in advance and was very pleased with my work and decided to put down a deposit with me to secure her date. We touch based on and off for some hair accessories that she couldn't find. I was able to find some a Panache which was a beautiful match.

I arrived at her home around 9:30 am to be ready for 1:30 pm with a Bridal Party of 5. As usual I started with the other Bridesmaid hair and Brenda started with the make-up. Everyone decided to have a very clean polish look, just emphasizing the eyes. A very popular suggestion among many bridal members. Approx around 11:45 I decided to work on the Gaia with her hair then her make-up.

Here is a good picture of her hair, again very loose and curled. This is all Gaia's hair, no extensions were needed. You can see once she had on her dress the only last thing was to have her veil out in place to just complete this look. You can see little old me in the back just adding one of the last important finishes to this look. She had on a gorgeous low deep v neckline accented with some rhinestone just below the bust line. You

can see in the pictures how it looks as I am not the right person when it comes to describing dress details. One thing I can describe though is her shoes! She had on a pair of light blue stilettos! i thought that was just put the icing to her cake. Very original!

So here it it... her finished make-up look

Hair:
Curled it with a flat iron

Make-up:
Face: Kett Airbrush, Sephora Powder to set for more coverage
Eyebrows: MAC Cork with brow brush
Cheeks: Kett Airbrush with MAC Coppertone and Peachtwist
Lips: MAC Dirvish Liner, Smashbox lipstick pallet ( not too sure pinkish brown) and Elizabeth Arden Gloss
Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion, MAC Omega on Entire crease, Shroom on the top half, Goldmine and Bronze on the outer corner. Contour the outer crease with Mulch. I used MAC Nylon for the inner upper and bottom corners and on the brow bone. I used the same colours on the bottom of the eyes and Smashbox Jet Set in Black gel liner on top. Attached false lashes and mascara with L'Oreal Voluminous waterproof.

The makeup is a lot more dramatic than the picture but Gaia said she rather look good in pics than life so we doubled it up. This is something to consider for all you potential brides. Photographic make-up!
